Cha'Mone Mo'Fo'Selecta – A Michael Jackson Tribute

In this one hour-long special Leigh Francis takes takes a chronological journey through the late pop icon's life, mixing big events in his life with contributions from popular Bo'Selecta! celebs such as Craig David   and Mel B. With cameos from former Spice Girl Emma Bunton and Jackson pal David Gest, this was a hilarious yet affectionatetribute. Shot on a tight budget by Roy Estabrook with Gaffer Doug Goddard the show included versions of the famous Thriller and Billie Jean music videos created in a little less time than the originals! In a hectic 10 day shoot the Blue Planet and Nimbus lighting teams created a full hour of hysterical comedy.

That Mitchell and Webb Look

John Sorapure filmed series 3 early in the year on two Sony F900 cameras (one operated by Director Ben Fuller) with Geraint Owen focus pulling. John also lit the multicamera element at TV Center. All the favorite characters were back, like Sir Digby Chicken Caesar and Numberwang with some new ones to like the well-meaning Dr Death! The show was a great success and a fourth series has been commissioned for next year.

Robson Green's Wild Swimming Adventure

Robson Green's embraces the burgeoning trend for outdoor swimming as he goes on a challenging tour of Britain's waters in this ITV1 series which explores our love affair with water, taking us from perfect places to paddle such as Devon's Tinside Lido to legendary locations such as Scotland's daunting Corryvreckan whirlpool where open water swimmers face freezing temperatures and mighty currents. Directed by Southan Morris it was a huge technical challenge for John Sorapure and Geraint Owen with more waterproof camera housings (Sony F900, Iconix, Sony A1) and helecopters than you can shake a stick at. The co-producers Tiger Aspect and Coastal Productions are delighted with the results and the programme should make a "splash" on our screens towards the end of 2009!

Ideal

John and Geraint set off to Manchester once again to shoot the fifth series of the surreal cult sitcom revolving around the strange world of the ultimate slacker. Moz (Johnny Vegas) and Jenny (Sinead Matthews) prepare to flee the country with stolen passports. Directed by Ben Wheatley and produced by Gill Isles the show was a great success and a sixth series has been commissioned for next year!

The Impressions Show With Culshaw And Stephenson

In the new series for BBC 1, Jon and Debra's targets range across the worlds of popular culture, sport and politics to deliver a good-natured poke at contemporary life. Shot by DOP John Record on the DVW970 25P digi beta camcorder, the show includes impressions of Madonna, Cheryl Cole, Simon Cowell, David Cameron, and Terry Wogan. The DVW970 was the camera of choice as it gave filmic quality at 25P, yet the standard digital betacam resolution prevented any problems with the huge range of prosthetics, wigs and make-up involved in each sketch. As well as using the DVW970 to full advantage in 25P mode, tracking and in-car shots were captured by innovative use of the Sony HXR-MC1P minicam. This produced stunning pictures, even when getting shots through a windscreen, effectively replacing a low-loader rig!

Horrible Histories

John Sorapure returns as DOP for the second season of the hugely popular CBBC program, delving into History in a quite unique way. Ably assisted be Geraint Owen, John Sorapure put together the   multitude of very different sequences using the Panasonic HDX900 HD camcorder. This produced a range of filmic images, coping well with a huge variety of lighting setups put together by Gaffer Larry Deacon.

Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle

Series marking the return to television, after a decade's absence, of one of Britain's most highly regarded stand-up comedians. DOP John E Walker worked with the Panasonic HDX900, Varicam and 16mm film to create a complex series of looks for the location sketches, that were then cut into footage captured at a live stand up show.
